Long hot summers and mild winters make the Southern African region an ‘all purpose, all season’ destination waiting to receive you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Stretching from Cape Town in the south to Victoria Falls in the north, from Windhoek in the west to Mozambique in the east, and everything in between, Walthers will take you there.
Populated by an eclectic mix of races, each with diverse and fascinating cultures, Southern Africa embraces all peoples, hence the expression the “Rainbow Nation”.
Our history too, is a rich tapestry detailing the lives of Africa’s inhabitants, interweaving explorers, settlers, invaders and the earliest indigenous peoples with tribal wars, colonialism and apartheid.
Our magnificent land abundantly yields the lion’s share of the world’s precious stones, sun ripened fruits and of course, superb wines from the finest grapes ever plucked from the vine.
And the astounding variety of wildlife and marine life plays a key role in positioning Southern Africa as a destination of choice.
A few of the highlights of this region include:-
Cape Town – overshadowed by the iconic Table Mountain, Cape Town is a city that literally has it all. Mountains, scenery, beaches, whale watching, shopping and some of the best food and wine you’ll find anywhere and all at great value. The New York Times has voted Cape Town the number one place in the World to visit. For the adrenalin junkies Cape Town is also renowned as the best place in the world for Great White Shark cage diving.
Safari – the word evokes images of elephants and lions, sunsets and the sounds of Africa. Safari is all this and yet so much more. Lodges range from traditional “Out of Africa” style to avant-garde, rustic, or even tented and cater to everyone’s tastes and budgets. It is as much about where you stay and how you arrive as what you see. No matter whether the location we suggest offers spa treatments or is self-catering, it is that first sighting of a leopard, the roar of a lion or the grace with which elephants pass by that remains with one forever.
Mozambique – definitely on the road less travelled. Blessed with a tropical coastline of some 2500km of pristine beach, one can visualise the potential. The islands of the Quarimbas and Benguela archipelagos are home to exclusive lodges perfect for idyllic honeymoons, scuba diving and fishing. Maputo, the capital city, shows the influence of this former Portuguese colony and boasts a railway station designed by Gustave Eiffel. Bob Dylan was so inspired that he wrote a song about this country, entitled naturally “Mozambique”.
Botswana – offering some of Africa’s last untouched wilderness, Botswana enjoys a reputation for unrivalled safari experiences. Eco lodges dot the Okavango Delta and names like Moremi, Savuti, Chobe and Tuli are synonymous with elephants, of which Botswana has the highest number on the African continent. A highlight is a cruise safari on the Chobe River!
Namibia – although a desert country Namibia enjoys an enviable reputation for awe inspiring landscapes. Influenced by both its indigenous people as well as from its times as a German colony, Namibia offers wide open spaces, desert and ocean, a vibrant capital city in Windhoek and some spectacular safari in the northern part of the country. Distances are long but in this region the journey is definitely as important as the destination.
Victoria Falls – The Falls are undoubtedly spectacular in their own right. More than a mile wide at the point that the mighty Zambezi plunges into the Batoka gorge, they form the largest sheet of falling water in the world. The location is however what really makes The Falls truly unique. Surrounded by National Park, elephant and hippo are regular additions to the scenic wonder of the spray. Activities vary from a relaxed sunset cruise on the river to white water rafting and one can even bungee jump in no-man’s land between two countries. Victoria Falls richly deserves its Seventh Natural Wonder of the World status.

TEN GOOD REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD BE USING WALTHERS DMC
At Walthers we are passionate about Corporate Social Responsibility. Giving back to the often underprivileged communities that surround the hotels, lodges and attractions we visit is of immense importance to us. We are not necessarily talking about cash donations. Many of our clients have taken time to assist with a few hours of interaction with Africa’s friendly people. Painting a classroom, refurbishing a playground or enjoying a paid for meal in someone’s home are merely a few examples of how our clients, through contributing, have learnt about different cultures. In some cases the interaction has resulted in meaningful friendships that are the highlight of their stay.
Walthers policy is that no profit is made from any social responsibility element if included as part of a programme we arrange. Our aim is that 100% of any contribution gets to those who need it. Our partnership with KPMG Meijburg Holland has changed the lives of hundreds of school children in Lilydale close to The Kruger National Park. Over the past five years, 6 new classrooms, a 10 workstation computer room, clean water, hundreds of school text books, desks and much more has been provided to Ezweni school.
Walthers is proud to have been recognised by SITE, winning three coveted “Crystal Awards” for outstanding contributions to CSR as part of an Incentive programme.
At Walthers we are completely dedicated to ensuring the success of each and every Client Programme, whether large or small. We thrive on the consistently excellent feedback we receive. The Walthers Team members are positive, friendly and are selected for their ‘can do’ approach to ensuring logistics run smoothly We strive for continuous improvement and as a result enjoy repeat business from those clients who share our commitment to excellence.
